Feel better live longer!
Equilibrium Longevity Hormone Replacement Therapy for Men and Women

Most adults over 40 are aware of declines in their metabolism and hormone levels. It is a natural part of aging. Our bodies were not engineered to live well beyond menopause and andropause (male menopause). There are two important parts of hormone replacement therapy. The first is supplementing those hormones that have declined but it is equally important that certain hormones are in balance with each other. Our longevity treatments will make you feel better almost immediately and depending on the specific treatment you should experience benefits like increased energy levels, libido, the ability to lose weight and sustain weight loss, improved cardiovascular health, deeper sleep and increased lean muscle mass with little to no risks.
At Equilibrium Weight Loss and Longevity we offer individualized hormone and longevity evaluation and treatment using bio-identical hormones and nutritional supplements. Our program encompasses a focus on weight management, nutrition, exercise and stress reduction. The evaluation starts with a detailed questionnaire and laboratory testing to understand your goals and pinpoint areas of opportunity. This is followed by a consult with an experienced physician and longevity consultant to provide a tailored treatment and follow up plan. Contact us to begin your hormone replacement therapy journey with Equilibrium Longevity. The initial program fee includes your evaluation, treatment plan, necessary prescriptions and a 6-8 week follow up evaluation. Laboratory fees are extra. We do not accept insurance but will provide you with a receipt that you may submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
The program includes a comprehensive review of your symptoms, medical, family and personal history and will include a combination of the following:
- Laboratory Testing
- Weight management
- Cleansing
- Natural Hormone balancing
- Ongoing evaluations
- Quality compounding pharmacy
- Highest quality supplements
- Fitness program planning
- Nutrition planning
- Stress reduction plans
Hormone Replacement Therapy for Men

Believe it or not, treatment for male andropause is often overlooked even though symptoms are common for most men over 40. Symptoms include fatigue, weight gain (especially around the middle), lack of sexual desire, lack of ambition or drive and difficulty focusing, In men, testosterone is the main hormone associated with well-being. It is responsible for facial hair, improved body composition, energy, libido, aggressiveness, among other “male” traits. As men approach midlife, a decrease in testosterone production is a given. This is referred to as “Andropause.” Restoring testosterone to normal levels can almost immediately alleviate many of these problems.
In a recent study, an overall decline in male testosterone levels of about 1.2% a year was documented. While the rate of decline increased with aging, the decline was noted in subjects of all ages and is believed to have environmental and nutritional causes. Specifically, the study noted that testosterone levels in 65 year old men in 2002 were significantly lower than in 65 year old men in 1987. A Lower level of testosterone can increase a man’s risk for age related diseases including heart disease, metabolic syndrome, diabetes and Alzheimer’s, as well as depression and erectile dysfunction. Studies indicate testosterone balance can decrease the risk of cardiovascular disease by as much as 21%.
Other male hormones may need attention as well. Most adults are deficient in Vitamin D and male thyroid conditions are common. The addition of peptides to boost the body’s natural production of human growth hormone can also be beneficial to most male patients over 40 years of age.
Hormone Replacement Therapy for Women

You may be a candidate for hormone replacement therapy if you are over 40, peri-menopausal or menopausal, or are experiencing symptoms such as weight gain, hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, vaginal dryness, loss of libido, painful intercourse, feeling “foggy” headed or having a difficult time concentrating. Changes in the production of Thyroid, Estrogen, Progesterone, and Testosterone normally occur as women approach midlife, causing hormonal imbalance. Women over 35 should be tested for thyroid deficiency. Most women over 60 are deficient. Symptoms of thyroid deficiency can include weight gain, decreased energy, depression, hair loss, and temperature swings. Estrogen deficiency is associated with the “classic” menopausal symptoms of hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, dry skin, headache, and many others. Progesterone deficiency may cause headache, swollen breasts, sleep issues, food cravings, emotional swings, weight gain, and bloating. Low testosterone is associated with depression, loss of strength and endurance, and decreased libido. Fortunately there is an easy way to test for and treat these conditions.”
Hormone Education
What are hormones? Hormones are chemical messengers that regulate our body’s activities and its chemistry. They are produced in 9 nine parts of the body (see our informational seminar to learn more). Hormones are molecules which are made in one part of the body and then “shipped” through the blood to another part of the body where they produce an action. As an example, an early teenage girl’s ovaries start to produce the hormone estrogen. This estrogen is secreted into the blood, travels to the breast area, and causes breast development at puberty. This is just one of the many actions of estrogen. In men, testosterone, secreted by the testicles, travels to muscle tissue, stimulating muscular growth. Again, this is just one action of testosterone.
Which hormones become the focus of longevity treatment? The hormone replacement therapy focus on the Longevity program centers around Vitamin D, estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA, cortisol, thyroid and melatonin. These tend to be very metabolically active hormones, affecting multiple aspects of our lives. There is a misconception that some of these hormones are specific to men and others to women but that is not accurate. All of these hormones play important roles for both men and women. A few examples will illustrate this point. Many men who are overweight have low testosterone and elevated estrogen. Estrogen is most often associated with females. The hormones are imbalanced in these men and as a result, they will experience a low libido and an inability to build lean muscle mass. Similarly, testosterone is most commonly associated with males, but it is also present in women, at a lower level but it is critical for female libido.
We have existed on earth for thousands of years without worrying about hormones, so why worry now? As long as hormones levels are in balance there is no problem. Hormones levels decline and get out of balance as we age, most commonly as we approach menopause and andropause (male menopause). In 1909 the average lifespan of an American adult was 47 years old so most men and women never reached menopause or andropause. Our life spans have nearly doubled in 100 years due to improved sewage, refrigeration, vaccinations and advances in treatment of heart disease. Most of us will live an average of 30+ years after menopause or andropause. This is why hormone issues have become so important. We are living longer and we want those extra years to be high quality years. Many of us have watched the quality of our aging parent’s lives decline. We want a better quality of life for ourselves. We want to be able to stay active both physically and mentally.
Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement (BIHR)
Bio-identical hormones (BIH) are an alternative to traditional oral hormone replacement for women or men with a hormone imbalance. Traditional hormone replacement involves taking synthetic hormones. These hormones are chemically different from the hormones made by your own body. Many women experienced unwanted side effects with these synthetic medications.
Bioidentical hormones have the same chemical structure as the hormones that our own body makes and therefore may have fewer side effects than synthetic preparations. These bio-identical hormones perform the same actions as our natural hormones so they relieve the symptoms of hormone imbalance or deficiency. Another benefit of bio-identical hormones is that they can be compounded to a very specific dose or combination for your individualized treatment and they are available in many forms including gels, creams or capsules.
